Thanks to all for their efforts at the Deutschen Pfest Parade on Saturday. We burned the streets of Pflugerville with Spanish Parade Sequence :-) Attendance was awesome! Thanks to the seniors and 8th graders that attended the parade!

Important Information:
1. TSSEC stands for Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Hendrickson HS hosts this UIL contest for all A, AA, AAA students from around the State of Texas. There will be thousands of students here. The UIL State office expects us to run a GREAT contest. We will need LOTS OF VOLUNTEERS for this event. We make $20,000 for our band so it is WORTH IT. Parents and students, please sign up!

Parents, we will have a VERY BRIEF meeting, as required by UIL, on Friday at 6:30 pm in the HHS Library. Please plan on attending.
Student volunteers will sign up at the band hall this week.
8th graders - we could use your help. Email Mr. G to volunteer.

Proceeds will directly benefit ALL hawk band students. Volunteers hours can be used for NHS and other.

2. Band Auditions are being held this week for the 2013-2014 Hawk Band. High Students your auditions will be Monday and Tuesday during your band class. 8th grade band students, your band auditions will be Wednesday and Thursday during your band class. All Bands students should have prepared 12 major scales, 1 chromatic scale, 2 etudes, 1 sightreading excerpt. These auditions will be 1 on 1 with the following directors.

Edward Lopez: Flutes, Pic, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, PCMS, some of KLMS
David Duffy: Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Bass Clarinet, DMS
Garth Gundersen: Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, some of KLMS

Percussionists should have already auditioned for a drumline spot. If you have not please contact Katie Leander at leander.katie at gmail.com

Colorguard auditions contact David Duffy at david.duffy at pfisd.net

3. Graduation band is required for Wind Ensemble, Highly encouraged for Symphonic Winds, optional for Concert Band. We will have 2 rehearsals this week. The performance is June 1 at 9 am at the Frank Erwin Center at UT. Transportation will be provided. We will be done before lunch. Please plan on attending our first rehearsal this Tuesday at 4:30 pm in the Band Hall.

4. CHICAGO: If you want to join, Friday is the LAST Day. We need to order Wicked and Blue Man Group tickets and secure our plane flights. Please contact Garth Gundersen at garth.gundersen at pfisd.net if you have any questions. Lets get the entire band on the trip. It is going to be life altering! :-)

5. Next week is MARCHING SHOW PREVIEW WEEK (TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY AT HHS) for anyone planning on being in the Hawk Band in 2013 - 2014. Please mark your calendars. This is a REQUIRED event for ALL students. And, it is FUN!

The Hawk is planning a trip to Chicago in November 2013! We want YOU to join us! Hawk Band students will march in the McDonalds Thanksgiving Parade in the streets of downtown Chicago On Thanksgiving day. Hawk band chaparones will assist in all duties throughout and will with the band throughout the trip. Guests of the band will stay in a different hotel, but will participate in most activities throughout the trip. All 3 packages, student/chaperone/guest will be offered and presented at the NEXT booster meeting.... THIS TUESDAY, February 5th at 7 pm in the band hall. Please plan to attend. Information and fundraiser information will be available at this meeting. Parents are highly encouraged to attend. Students will receive most information during their band classes, but may attend the meeting with their parents if they want. I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
